1. He foreknew us. (V. 29)

   • He knew us before we were born. (Jer. 1:5)

   • He loved you before you were created.
     (Ps. 139:15–16)

   • His knowledge of you is personal and intimate.
     (Amos 3:2; 1 Cor. 8:3; Dt. 7:6–8)

2. He predestined us. (V. 29)
   (Eph. 1:4–5; 2 Tim. 1:9)

   • God took the initiative in our salvation.

   • God chose to save us.

3. He called us. (V. 30a)

   • His call comes through the Gospel message.
     (2 Thes. 2:13; Rom. 1:16)

   • Those who respond in repentance & faith are called.
     (1 Thes. 1:4–5)

   • His call is always effective.
     (Eph. 2:5)

4. He has justified us. (V. 30b)

   • Through the work of Jesus Christ.
     (Rom. 3:24–26; 2 Cor. 5:21)

   • By His grace.
     (Eph. 2:8–9)

   • Through faith.
     (Rom. 5:1)

5. He has glorified us. (V. 30c)

   • Our glorification is not contingent on us.

   • Our glorification is certain and assured.
