  1. God calls us to obey Him. (Jonah 1:1–2)

    1. He is working.

    2. He has a mission.

    3. We exist to serve His causes.

  2. Disobedience and rebellion always costs us. (V. 3)

  3. Disobedience and rebellion brings troubling consequences. (V. 4)

  4. Our hidden sins are often publicly displayed.

  5. God works through judgment to bring us to repentance.
    (Vv. 4, 17: Luke 13:3-5)
