MESSAGE BY: Pastor Tim Lewis
What is in a name?
(Ex. 3:13–14; 33:17–23)His name is Holy.
His name reveals His character.
His name is a gift to know Him personally.
His name is to be used with reverence and careful responsibility.
What does this commandment mean?
We are not to use His name in empty ways.
We are to reverence His name. (Matt. 6:9)
How do we reverence His name?
How we worship and pray.
(Matt. 6:5–8, 14–15; James 4:3–5)How we talk about Him and others. (James 4:9–10)
How we live our lives.
(Matt. 5:43–48; 5:16; 2 Cor. 5:20)
How seriously does God take His name? (Deut. 5:11)
(Matt. 7:21–23; 12:33–37)The Lord holds accountable.
God eternally judges.
Christ is our only hope.
