TEXT: Romans 2:1–16
MESSAGE BYPastor Tim Lewis

  1. God’s judgement is inescapable. (Vv. 1–4)

    • There is no escape because:

    • There is no excuse because:

      • By judging others, you condemn yourself. (Vv. 1,3)

      • You too, do the same things.

      • You are not exempt.

      • You have misunderstood God’s patience and kindness. (V. 4)

  2. God’s judgement is righteous. (Vv. 5–11)

  3. God’s judgement is impartial. (Vv. 12–16)

    • Judgement is on all who sin.

    • Judgement is without distinction.

    • Judgement is thorough and true.

    • Judgement is by Jesus Christ.

    • Judgement is part of the Gospel.

    Take-away questions:

    3.    What are the differences between God’s judgement and man’s judgement?

    4.    Why does the legalist (moralist) condemn himself/herself?

    5.    What is the basis of God’s judgement?

    6.    What is the basis of God’s justification? (Rom. 3:20–22, 28)

    7.    How will God judge the Gentile?

    8.    How will He judge the Jew?

    9.    Who will be the judge?
