MESSAGE: The Guilt of Man and the Righteous Judgement of God
TEXT: Romans 1:18–23
MESSAGE BY: Pastor Tim Lewis
The proper place to begin our message. (V. 18) (Luke 3:7; Acts 2:36–40; 2 Cor. 5:10–11)
God is central.
God is Holy.
People are sinful.
The righteous wrath of God. (Vv. 18–20)
Revelation (Ps. 19:1–6; Job 38:4–11)
Eternal power
Kindness
Awareness
Suppression (V. 18)
Wrath (V. 18)
It is always right.
It is personal.
It is current.
The indicting suppression of truth. (Vv. 21–23)
How do we attempt to suppress it?
Refuse to acknowledge God.
Refuse to honor God.
Refuse to give gratitude to God.
Refuse to live up to the light we’ve been given.
What are the consequences? (Vv. 18, 21) (1 Cor. 1:21; 1 Cor. 2:14; Eph. 4:17–20)
Thinking is empty.
Hearts are darkened.
Pursued idols.
No excuse.
Take away questions:
1. How is God speaking in creation?
2. What is He saying?
3. How is the world responding?
4. Is God just in His judgement?
5. Is anyone without excuse?
6. How has God’s righteous wrath been satisfied?
