1. Who was David? (V. 6)

   • He was called and anointed as King of Israel.
     (1 Sam. 16:12–13)

   • He was a faithful shepherd.
     (Ps. 23:1–4)

   • He was a gifted musician.
     (1 Sam. 16:18, 23)

   • He was a valiant warrior.
     (1 Sam. 17:34–39, 45–47)

   • He was a victorious king.
     (2 Sam. 5:1–5)

   • He was the King of Covenant Promise.
     (2 Sam. 7:16)

   • He was a man who committed a wicked, sinful crime.
     (2 Sam. 11:27)

   • He was a man that was forgiven and restored.
     (2 Sam. 12:7–9, 13)

2. How was David justified?

   • Apart from works. (V. 6)
     (2 Sam. 12:13–14; Ps. 51:1–17)

   • By God’s work. (Vv. 7–8)
     (Ps. 51:7, 9–12)

     • Lawlessness is forgiven. (V. 7)

     • Sins are covered. (V. 7)

     • Iniquities are not imputed (credited). (V. 8)

     • Righteousness is imputed (credited) to all who trust in Jesus Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21)

3. How am I made righteous?

   • Not by self-efforts.
